Designer: Maja (Maria Lovisa) Arnadottir
InspIra started out as a father-daughter side project in the cold Icelandic winter months of 2012 and expanded into a full product line in March 2013.
All of InspIra's products are made in Iceland. Maja's father Arni Baldursson assists her with product development and creates all the woodwork in his little workshop in Akranes. Maja's brother Arni helps program the woodworking machine.
Each InspIra product is inspired by a story and will hopefully inspire the beholder to tell stories of their own inspirations and adventures. Many of the pieces are strongly inspired by Iceland's rich cultural heritage as well as by the country's immensely pure and idyllic nature.
Maja holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Interior Design and has an MBA in Business. Her prior experience includes designing commercial and corporate interiors but in the past five years she's been working as an executive coach to creative business owners . Maja lived in the Arizona desert for 12 years before moving back to her home country in 2010. Moving from a desert to a small island in the Arctic ocean was quite a contrast and since moving back home Maja's very much enjoyed getting reacquainted with her cultural heritage and the beautiful nature that surrounds her everyday. Her designs are often based on playing with contrast and opposites, and on playing with negative and positive space and form.
